Class Song

Use the Control Panel below to listen to this catchy tune .
(May not appear in all browsers.)

(Music to the tune of, "Follow The Gleam")

Through three years at Beverly High
We have studied, learned, and advanced
To our classes, our clubs, our friends
We look back with a wistful glance.

Enter, enter, enter to learn,
Through work and play finding the way to
Go forth, go forth to serve,
For the challenge is ours today!

We go forth to a higher call,
Holding destiny in our hands,
We, the light of a weary world,
We, the hope of all troubled lands.

Enter, enter, enter to learn,
Through work and play finding the way to
Go forth, go forth to serve,
For the challenge is ours today!

(Lyrics by Nancy Pedrick Smith, '60)

Original Words: Helen Hill Miller; this song won the 1920 Silver Bay Prize at Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Music: Sallie Hume Douglas, 1915

The Class Brains

According to the 1960 Beverlega: "This year B. H. S. has created an award for scholastic achievement. This award is in the form of a charcoal-gray blazer with the school seal in orange affixed to its pocket. In order to achieve this award one must achieve a 3.6 average." The write-up does not say if this is for all high school grades or just the senior year.

f. Susan Allison, Judith Eagen, Heather Tyrie, Reanne Painchaud.
b. Neil Share, Evan Brodie, Charles Elliot, James Gastonguay, Owen Lowe.

NOTE: According to the information on the Awards Assembly Recipient List 1960 (see bottom of program), "seniors who have won High Scholarship Awards Jackets..." included Richard Chase, Gloria Nadeau, and Faith Taylor, not shown in the above photo from our yearbook, or even noted therein.

Note: This information is extracted from our database of BHS '60 names and addresses. As noted, there are now less than two dozen classmates Missing "whereabouts unknown" (the lowest number here ever was 17) - if found, their status would change these figures. Also, the accuracy of the "known" information is now well over 95% accurate, due to (1) reminders in the occasional email to let me know of any address changes, and (2) an "Address Service Requested" notice on every USPS envelope sent to any and all classmates.

Note: The figure for total living in Massachusetts includes those living in Beverly.

Class Colors

Class Colors are Green and White. This is why the pages on this Website (bhs60.com) are dark green with white text. This is why our yearbook has a green and white cover. Our graduation caps and gowns were green, too. (Thanks, Connie)

School Colors are Orange and Black. This is why some pages on the Beverly High Alumni Website (beverlyhighalumni.com) are black and orange. Our only connection to that site are links to and from this site. I do not maintain that site. The Webmaster there is easy to deal with and will add or update your comments.
